Enclosure Quick-Design Card

This is a doorway card. Use it to choose the first box path before you move into the deeper enclosure math or BassBuilder.

Six-step enclosure design path from driver specs and goal to box type, net volume, port-seal choice, and measurement check.

Qts Decision Ladder

Qts zoneWhat it suggestsStarting read
Below 0.30Ported or bandpass firstDriver usually wants stronger vent loading
0.30 to 0.50Ported often best, sealed still possibleGood crossover zone for many general builds
0.50 to 0.70Either can workSealed often feels tighter, ported can still make sense
0.70 to 1.00Sealed preferredDriver usually wants a simpler air-spring box
Above 1.00Sealed only for most sane startsTreat ported as suspicious unless the data clearly supports it

Choose Sealed Or Ported

Choose Sealed

Use sealed when you want a smaller box, simpler build, tighter behavior, or the driver already leans that way.

Fast start: aim around Qtc 0.707 and use the deeper sealed page for the real sizing.

Choose Ported

Use ported when you want more output around tuning and the driver data supports a vented path.

Fast start: treat volume and tuning as a pair, then confirm port area and length with the real math.

When To Leave The Card

If the Qts ladder says the driver is a believable candidate and you want actual box dimensions next, leave this page and go into BassBuilder.
